Thanks for coming to visit. If this is the first Contrast website you’ve seen (coming straight from the Behind the Scenes video), welcome to our development blog!
If you’re new, please check out the official Contrast website. It has a lot of introductory info about the game that hasn’t quite made its way here yet (that’s totally my fault, I do apologise). However, if you want to learn a little about Compulsion, and what we’ve been up to recently, then stick around.
So, we put out two new trailers recently, which are super cool. The first is our Music Trailer, which is also currently showing at the top of our blog. The plan was to show off one of the main songs in the game, which was an awesome collaboration with Laura Ellis. The second is a Behind the Scenes video, which explains a bit more behind the game. It features Guillaume, our studio head, Josh, one of Contrast’s level designers, and Whitney, our artist/designer, so you can get to know a few of the team too.
In other good news, we have recently released the pre-orders for Contrast on Steam. Right now, you can pre-order the Collector’s Edition for US$15, which includes Contrast, the Soundtrack to Contrast, and the Programme to Contrast (an art book/dev diary that is basically an expanded behind the scenes collector’s item about Contrast).
On release (in two weeks!), the Collector’s Edition will be $20, and Contrast alone will be $15. You’ll also be able to pick up the Soundtrack and Programme for ~$5.
Right now, we’re finalising our launch plans. Our Xbox 360, PS3 and PS4 builds are all ready to go, having passed submission in nearly every territory, so we’re right on time for launch in mid November. Right now, the PC, Xbox 360 and US PS4 versions are planned to launch on 15 November 2013. The PS3 version is planned to launch on 19 November in the US, and 20 November in Europe. Finally, PS4 Europe players will get it on the European launch of the PS4, on 29 November! Gosh, that’s a lot of dates.
We have not made any decisions on the Xbox One, Vita, Wii U, or other versions – but we will be looking at them all soon, and will update you when we can.
We’re also excited that the PS4 version of Contrast will be free to PS4 owners who are also PS+ subscribers. This means a whole heap of people will play the game, who might not have otherwise. We think this is really cool, because it’s a great opportunity to introduce new players to the indie scene.
Two weeks to go – it’s exciting. Thank you all for the support over the past year and a half – it’s been a wild ride.
P.S. Here’s a nice wee picture of some physical Collector’s Editions of Contrast:
